The Configure Batch Control Number window allows you to define batch control number components that can be output in a batch header, image control, or document set control expression. For example, if your custom batch control number is a combination of the current date, the scan operator's employee ID, the batch type and a sequential number, use this feature to define the parts of the control number instead of prompting the scan operator for the entire value (maximum length of 25 characters).

To configure the batch control number:

  1. From the File menu, click New Capture Profile to open the Create New Capture Profile Window

    OR

To edit an existing profile, double-click a profile in the Workflow Manager.

  2. Click the Output - ASCII tab.
  3. Add the Batch Control Number (User Assigned) field to the output expression for the batch header, image control, or document set control. This activates the Configure Batch Control Number button on the Output - ASCII tab.
  4. Click the Configure Batch Control Number button to open the Configure Batch Control window.
  5. To construct the Batch Control Number Definition, double-click fields in the Control Fields pane to add them to the expression above

    OR

Select the field and click the Add Field button.

  6. If you are including the Batch Date field in the batch control number, click Date Formatting to specify the output format for the date. See Configure Date Format Settings.
    Tip:

You can also define a prompting expression to prompt the Scan or Import operator for information each time a batch is scanned or imported. For more information, see Add a Prompting Control Field.

    Option

    Description

    Auto Incrementing Sequence Number

A sequential number that increases with each batch. Optionally, you can specify the required number of digits by typing nines between the square brackets. For example, <B_AUTO_INC [9999]>. The scan or import operator is prompted for the number, but it defaults to the next number in sequence.

Auto Incrementing Sequence Number (Reset Daily/No Prompt)

A sequential number that starts over from one every day. The scan or import operator is not prompted for the number. Optionally, you can specify a mask to zero fill by entering nines between the square brackets. For example, <B_AUTO_INC_DAYRESET [999]>.

    Batch Date

The date the batch was created. Click the Format Date button to specify the date format. See Configure Date Format Settings.

    Batch Time

The time in hour:minute:second format that the batch was created.

    Kodak Fixed Field

This field only applies if you are using a Kodak scanner that supports image address. This is the fixed field portion of the image address.

    Scan Station ID

The Unique Scan Station Identifier specified in Settings | Scanner Setup, in the Interface tab. See Select a Scanner Interface.

  7. Click OK.
