Skew refers to how much the text is rotated in relation to a horizontal reference line. An image that is not perfectly square is considered skewed. Even at 1% or 2% skew, many OCR engines fail to recognize characters. This parameter uses text and horizontal lines to automatically detect and remove skew from an image. It can easily handle 10% skew, and up to 20% with a clean image. This parameter also has a feature that reduces rotational text distortion in a deskewed image.
If a master form image appears skewed at all after scanning or importing, is recommended that you use DeSkew on the master template image when you first create it, before drawing any zones (otherwise, the zones could be in the wrong place in relation to the form). If the template has adequate Registration zones, it should not be necessary to use Deskew during batch processing.
Deskewing an image can also improve the performance of compression algorithms. Skewed TIFF Group 4 files often compress an additional 25% when de-skewed.

Maintain Original Size |
Sets a flag to indicate whether the size of the image should be maintained unchanged, or allowed to change. |
Min. Correctable Angle |
Sets the minimum amount of skew (in degrees) that is considered correctable. Range 0.0-2.0. |
Min Confidence |
Sets the minimum detection confidence required before correction will proceed. Range 0-100. |
