Common tasks can be performed quickly by assigning a combination of keyboard functions to each task. These keyboard functions can be modified at any time if a user is assigned the required permissions. If a user does not have the required permissions to change keyboard shortcuts, then the assigned shortcuts are displayed in a read-only list. The list of assigned shortcuts can also be printed for reference.
If a specific shortcut is already assigned to a command, a notification is displayed when the assignments are saved. If the Apply button is not available, then the selected key combination is not a valid combination and must be changed before applying the combination to a command.
An asterisk (*) is displayed next to a command to indicate the associated shortcut combination was modified from the default combination. A command marked with an (R) indicates that the shortcut combination is reserved and cannot be modified; the command can only be turned of or off.
Deactivating a keyboard shortcut for a command (by deselecting its check box) also removes any related toolbar button that performs that command.
