Problem
The following error is displayed: “ScanSoft Recap failure. Initialization failed. (Error code = 8004C413).”
Description
The license for the Nuance ScanSoft OCR engine component has failed to activate. This can happen during installation of CAPTUREit if the installation fails for some reason.
Solution
Contact your first line of support if you receive this error. Technical Support may direct you to manually activate the Nuance ScanSoft license using the third-party Nuance Licensing Tool.
- Go to Start | All Programs | Nuance | Licensing | Nuance Licensing Tool to access the tool.
- Select File | Import and browse to folder where the engine was installed. By default, this location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Hyland\CAPTUREit\ScanSoft.
- Locate the *.lcxz file in the folder and click Open to load the license package.
- Select File | Exit to close the Nuance Licensing Tool.
