You can use a query on an external database to create the search pool.
The data returned by the query must include at least 3 records and each record may contain up to a maximum of 3070 characters. This limit applies with two fields marked as searchable and for each additional searchable field this limit reduces by 1. For example, with 10 searchable fields the limit would reduce to 3062.
The data returned by the query must include at least one ID column for which each record has a unique value. The values in this column can be either purely numeric or alphanumeric. The database must be accessible as an ODBC data source.
To create an ODBC data source, complete the following steps.
- Open Windows Administrative Tools and then double-click ODBC Data Sources (32-bit).
- In the ODBC Data Source Administrator (32-bit) dialog box, on the System DSN tab, add the data source.
