To modify the validation settings for a field, complete the following steps.

  1. Switch to Definition Mode.
  2. In the left pane, on the Fields tab, select a field.
  3. In the right pane, on the Validation tab, under Force Validation, select Default, Permitted, or Forbidden. For more information, see Force Validation Settings.
  4. Optional. From the Available Templates list, select a template and then click Copy.
  5. Optional. If the field belongs to a subclass, select Use Derived Validation.
    Note: This makes all other settings unmodifiable.
  6. Optional. To make the field always valid regardless of its content or validation settings, select Always valid.
  7. Optional. Select Allow delayed validation.
  8. From the Validation Type list, select a type.
  9. Complete one of the following substeps.
