To authenticate with Hyland Experience, service applications require a service user account configured in the Administration Portal. The following steps describe how to create a service user and register the associated service application. The service application can be registered at a later time if necessary.

To create a service user:

  1. Open the Administration Portal.
  2. Select the Identity tab under the banner.
    The Users page is displayed.
  3. Click the drop-down arrow on the Create Internal User button, and then select Create Service User.
The Create New User wizard is displayed.
  4. Enter a name for the service user in the Username field.
  5. Click Next.
The User Groups page is displayed.
  6. Choose whether to assign the service user to groups.
    • To assign the service user to one or more groups, select each group the service user should belong to from the Unassigned select list.
    • To assign the service user to groups at a later time, do not select any groups.
  7. Click Next.
The Register New Client page is displayed.
  8. Choose whether to register a new service application.
    • To register a new service application, enter a name for the service application in the Client Name field. Choose this option if you want to both create the service user and register the associated service application at the same time.
    • Leave the field blank to map the service user to a service application at a later time.
  9. Click Next.
    The Review page is displayed.
  10. Review the information you provided for the new service user.
    • To create the service user using the values provided, click Create.
    • To change a value, click the associated step from the top of the wizard.
    • To close the wizard without making any changes, click Cancel.
If you clicked Create, the Summary page is displayed.
  11. Record the details as needed.

If you registered a new service application, the summary includes the auto-generated client ID and client secret for the service application. The client ID and client secret values must be shared with the service application to allow it to request authentication tokens for use with Hyland Experience.

Note: Record the client secret in a secure location. It will not be shown again after you close the Summary page.
  12. Click Close.
