Hyland RPA requires a Microsoft SQL Server database for running processes in attended or unattended mode.

To allow central reporting and management of all processes it is required to have an MS SQL Server installed and configured properly, so it can be accessed inside your network. Database installation differs from customer to customer because of IT security and process requirements and will be not covered in here. See SQL Server installation guide on docs.microsoft.com. on how to set up and configure an MS SQL Database Server. For small installations, MS SQL Server Express Edition (no license cost, but limited database size) might be a good edition to start with.

For performance optimization, some features of the Hyland RPA product suite are using the SQL Server Service Broker optionally. For information on how to manage the SQL Server to support this feature, see Service Broker on docs.microsoft.com.

If the SQL Server and clients are separated by a firewall, it is required to open the corresponding ports to allow communication. For more information, see Configure the Windows Firewall to Allow SQL Server Access on docs.microsoft.com.
