You can create modifications such as positioning overrides and character alterations to a specific font. These modifications are applied to a font that matches a combination of the Code Page Name, Font Character Set Name, and Coded Font Name. Mappings may leave the Font Character Set Name or Coded Font Name blank if the override is applied to every font using a particular code page.

To customize font metrics:

  1. From the AFP Customize Fonts dialog box, click Add Metric. The Customize Font Metric dialog box is displayed.
  2. Configure the following options as required:
    Setting Description
    Code Page Name This value specifies the AFP Code Page Name this override should apply to.
    FCS Name This value specifies the AFP Font Character Set Name this override should apply to.
    Coded Font Name This value specifies the AFP Coded Font Name this override should apply to.
    Font Width This value specifies the width of the font character boxes to override.
    XPos This value specifies the X positioning of the character box to offset by.
    YPos This value specifies the Y positioning of the character box to offset by.
    Blank Increment This value specifies the width override for space characters or empty strings.
    Suppress Render Select to specify if the font should be suppressed.
  3. Click Add Mapping if you want to add a character remapping. This generates the remapped character glyph when attempting to render a specific character value.
    Note: Enter the character values in hexadecimal format.
  4. Click Add Suppress if you want to stop rendering specific characters.

  5. Click Add Adjust if you want to add a x and y offset adjustment for specific characters in the font.
    Note: Enter the character values in hexadecimal format.
  6. Click Edit to edit the selected font/character customizations or font overrides shown in the Character Modification list box.
  7. Select one or more font or character customizations/font override and click Remove. The selected font or character customizations/font overrides are removed from the Character Modifications list box.
  8. Click OK to save the configurations or Cancel to close the dialog box.
