A regular expression is a rule that specifies a particular format for a value. Several OnBase modules (e.g., Automated Redaction, Advanced Capture, and Intelligent Capture for AP) are able to use regular expressions to identify data.

When working with regular expressions, it is considered a best practice to test the expression with the OnBase Regex Validator, available from the Hyland Community or your solution provider. This helpful tool allows you to validate regular expressions and to view examples of the types of data typically identified by the Advanced Capture module.
