You must create a storage location on your local system for the recording of media files. It is important that you have quick access to the media files, so a local directory is preferable. While this is not the permanent repository for media files, it is important to establish this location. This directory must be shared to allow Minutes users to read and playback the media file and also to allow Media Publisher to write to and edit the media file, and it must be a UNC path.

To create and share a storage location:

  1. Navigate to the location where you want to store your media files.
  2. Click New folder to add a new folder.
  3. Name the new folder something that is related to media. For example, "Media Files" or "Video Files".
  4. Right-click the new directory and select Share with | Specific people. The File Sharing dialog box is displayed.
  5. In the File Sharing dialog box, either type a user name, or select a user from the drop-down list.
    Note:

It is recommended that you set up file sharing for either a Windows user group(for example, Minutes Users and Administrator) or a Domain group(for example, Media Publisher User). Domain groups are preferred over Windows user groups.

  6. Click Add.
  7. Do the following to set permissions for each group:
    • Windows user group: select the group name and right-click. Select Read/Write for the permission level.

    • Domain user group: select the group name and right-click. Select Read/Write for the permission level.

  8. Click Share. A dialog box is displayed indicating that your folder is shared.
  9. Click Done to complete the process.
