Refers to the number of audio/video bits sent or received in a given unit of time. Video and audio are captured and stored digitally at specific intervals (frames per second for video, sampling frequency for audio). |

A computer application that can take an uncompressed video or audio feed and compress it to a standard format. |

Resolution |
Resolution is the width in pixels (x lines of pixels) of the video. Examples of resolution rates include 360p, 480p 720p and 1080p (with the p standing for pixels). Low media resolution may use 500kbps bitrate, while 720p and 1080p could use 2Mbps bitrates or more. Higher bitrates require more storage and more bandwidth to play back. |
