Enable Keyword Zero Padding is available for Alphanumeric Keyword Types. It allows users to enter abbreviated Keyword Values while indexing or retrieving documents and folders. The resulting entry is then expanded with zeros preceding the numeric portion of the value up to the Maximum Length of the Keyword Type.

For example, a Keyword Type with a value of MV00000123 and a Maximum Length of 10 can be entered as MV123. Because only five characters are entered, the value is expanded to include five zeros before the numbers to satisfy the Maximum Length configured for the Keyword Type.

CAUTION:

If the Enable Keyword Zero Padding option is selected after the Keyword Type is created, the Enable Keyword Zero Padding option is disabled and cannot be deselected after the Keyword Type configuration is saved. Before selecting Enable Keyword Zero Padding for an existing Keyword Type, understand that by selecting this option and saving the Keyword Type configuration, you are permanently modifying existing Keyword Values associated with the Keyword Type.

The following table illustrates how other Keyword Values are expanded, based on the assumption that the Maximum Length of the Keyword Type is 10:
