To review documents that have undergone Automated Redaction:

  1. From the Automated Redaction Tools menu in the Automated Redaction Review window:
    1. Use the Process Type drop-down list to select Both, Ad-Hoc, or Processor.
    2. Use the Status Type drop-down list to select All Pending, Pending Review, or Pending OCR.

All documents meeting these criteria are displayed in the Pending Documents list.

    Note:

You can filter the Pending Documents list by typing a value in the Filter field at the top of the list. Only the documents whose names contain the value you typed in the Filter field will then be displayed.

  2. Select the document to be reviewed from the Pending Documents list. If the document has a status of Pending OCR, it undergoes OCR processing.

The document is displayed in the Document Viewer. All pending redactions identified by the OCR engine are displayed on the document and each redaction is listed individually in the Pending Redactions list.

To remove a document from the Pending Documents list, select the document, right-click, and select Remove Document. The document is removed from the Pending Documents list and all pending redactions are deleted.

To re-process a document (the document again undergoes OCR processing and all potential redactions are identified), select it from the Pending Documents list, right-click, and select Auto Redaction.

  3. To review the first pending redaction, select the first entry in the Pending Redactions list or press the Tab key.

The Pending Automated Redaction note associated with that redaction is displayed in the Document Viewer. The value being redacted from the document is displayed in the note text.

When working with the Pending Automated Redaction note, also consider the following:

    • You can minimize the note to clear it from the Document Viewer; this causes the value being redacted to be highlighted in red (that is, the value being redacted is now visible).

    • When you select multiple notes, all of the corresponding values to be redacted for these notes are highlighted in red on the page that is currently displayed. If the selected notes appear on different pages of the document, the Document Viewer automatically navigates to the page with the fewest selected notes.

    • You can clear all notes from the viewer (and re-display the redaction annotations over the values pending redaction) by selecting the Hide Notes check box in the Automated Redaction Tools menu.

  4. If the pending redaction is correct, proceed to the next step.
If the pending redaction is incorrect (the value should not have been redacted from the document), right-click on the redaction in the Pending Redactions list and select Delete Note or press the Delete key. A confirmation message is displayed. Click Yes to delete the redaction.
  5. Review the remaining redactions pending for the selected document.
To review a pending redaction, select its entry in the Pending Redactions list. Or, press the Tab key to select the next entry in the Pending Redactions list or press Shift + Tab to select the previous entry in the Pending Redactions list.
  6. Once all redactions in the Pending Redactions list have been reviewed, review the document to ensure that there is no other data that needs to be redacted.
If you identify additional data that needs to be redacted from the document, see Manually Adding Redactions to Documents.
