By default, the Bar Code Generator creates standard 3 of 9 bar codes when manually or automatically generating bar codes.
Special characters (i.e., ~‘!@#$%^&*) are not supported by standard 3 of 9 bar codes. These characters are ignored during the bar code generation process and are not included in Keyword Values represented by bar codes generated by the Bar Code Generator.
Lowercase alphanumeric characters are also not supported by standard 3 of 9 bar codes. These characters are converted to uppercase characters in Keyword Values represented by bar codes generated by the Bar Code Generator.
To include special characters and/or lowercase characters in bar code values, configure the Bar Code Generator generator to create Extended 3 of 9 bar codes instead of standard 3 of 9 bar codes. See Options for more information.
For a list of all characters supported by standard 3 of 9 and extended 3 of 9 bar codes, see http://www.idautomation.com/code39faq.html.
