To configure the Process Type:

  1. Select the Bar Code Process to be configured from the Bar Code Process Configuration dialog box and click Process Type. The Process Type dialog box is displayed.
  2. Use the options displayed to configure the Process Type for the Bar Code Process. The availability of several options in this dialog box depend on whether other options are selected or deselected.

    Process Type Options

    Description

    Load keywords from bar codes

Select this option if bar codes are used to loads Keyword Values for the document.

    Note:

Scripting is required to perform both the Load keywords from bar codes and the Identify document type from bar code options on a single bar code; otherwise, multiple bar codes must be used.

Discard pages with keyword bar codes

Select to prevent pages with bar codes from being stored in OnBase.

Discard back of pages with keyword bar codes

Select to prevent the back side of pages with bar codes from being stored in OnBase.

    Note:

This option is not respected when performing bar code processing in the Separate Bar Code Processing Queue.

Keyword bar code indicates new document

Select to indicate that a page is the first page of a new document if it contains one or more Keyword Values bar codes.

Identify document type from bar code

Select this option if the document's Document Type is identified by a bar code value display on the document.

    Note:

Scripting is required to perform both the Load keywords from bar codes and the Identify document type from bar code options on a single bar code; otherwise, multiple bar codes must be used.

Document Type set by bar code script

Select this option if the document's Document Type is determined by a bar code script.

See 2-Dimensional Bar Code Support / VB Scripts for more information.

    Note:

This option is not respected within Document Imaging for the Unity Client.

    Keep document type separator page

Select this option to save the bar code separator page as part of the document it identifies.

Discard back of document type separator page

Select this option to prevent the back of Document Type separator pages from being stored in OnBase.

    Note:

This option is not respected when performing bar code processing in the Separate Bar Code Processing Queue.

Document type and keyword bar codes on the same page

Select to indicate that the bar codes for both the Document Type and Keyword Values are located on the same page.

Continue same document if document type does not change

If a Document Type bar code is present, select to append subsequent pages that have the same Document Type bar code to the document.

If this option is not selected, any valid Document Type bar code (i.e., the bar code is displayed in the configured location on the document and the bar code value matches a configured Document Type ID string) indicates the beginning of a new document.

    Note:

When enabled, this setting can override the Pages per document setting specified by the scan format (i.e., pages can be appended to a document to exceed the number of pages allowed for the document as specified by the scan format used to scan the document).

Document type bar code does not start new document

Select to indicate that a valid Document Type bar code (i.e., the bar code is displayed in the configured location on the document and the bar code value matches a configured Document Type ID string) does not indicate the start of a new document. Other elements of the page (i.e. patch codes, blank pages) may indicate a new document.

    Tip:

This option is often used when a patch code indicates a new document.

Select Report multiple document type bar codes as error to generate an error if more than one Document Type bar code is applied to a document.

    Note:

The Report multiple document type bar codes as error option is not respected within Document Imaging for the Unity Client.

Bar code server queue respect original document separations

    Note:

This option is not respected when performing Bar Code Processing on the Data Capture Server.

    Note:

This option only applies to batch Bar Code Processing on the Bar Code Recognition Server; it does not apply to document-by-document Bar Code Processing at the time of scanning.

Select to maintain original documents separations and to prevent new separations from being made based on the bar codes being read.

If this option is not selected, original document separations may be overridden by new separations that are made based on the bar codes being read.

Bar code server queue carry document type across original boundaries

    Note:

This option is not respected when performing Bar Code Processing on the Data Capture Server.

    Note:

This option is only respected when the Bar code server queue respect original document separations option is selected.

Select the Bar code server queue carry document type across original boundaries option to carry the current document's assigned Document Type over to the next document in the batch if the next document does not contain a Document Type bar code.

If this option is not selected, each document in the batch maintains its assigned Document Type.

  3. Once you have configured the Process Type options for the Bar Code Process, click Save. To exit the Process Type dialog box without saving your changes, click Cancel.
