Self-configured bar codes are created in the OnBase Bar Code Generator or other third-party software. Once bar codes sheets have been created and printed, those bar codes can be used to index documents automatically.

In order to use self-configured bar codes, you must create and configure a Bar Code Process using the following steps:

  1. Select Import | Bar Code Processing in the OnBase Configuration module to display the Bar Code Process Configuration dialog box.
  2. Select <self-configured process>.
  3. Click Process Type to display the Process Type dialog box. Set any necessary Process Type options for the bar code.
    Note:

Some Process Type options are set by default for self-configured bar codes to set specific default behavior (i.e., bar code sheets containing self-configured bar codes are discarded). Examine these settings to ensure that this behavior and these settings are desired for your solution.

  4. Click Configuration.
  5. In the Limits box, set the Minimum Characters in Code, Maximum Bar Codes/Page, and Maximum Bar Codes/Line settings appropriately.
  6. In the Bar Code Type box, select the Code 39 (3 of 9) type.
  7. Click Save.

Once the Bar Code Process is created, it must be assigned to a scan queue like any other Bar Code Process. For more information, see Assigning a Bar Code Process to Scan Queue.
