A scan format is required for batch bar code processing via the Bar Code Recognition Server so that OnBase can determine the number of pages that are assigned to each processed document. If no scan format is found, then batch bar code processing cannot be performed and an error message is displayed.
OnBase makes several attempts to find a scan format that can be used to perform batch bar code processing before displaying this error message:
- First, OnBase attempts to use the scan format that was used to scan the batch being processed.
- If the scan format from Step 1 is not available to the processing workstation, OnBase searches for a scan format that has been configured on the bar code processing workstation specifically for bar code processing (see Creating a Scan Format).
- If Steps 1 and 2 are performed, and no scan formats are found, the processing workstation will attempt to find use any scan format (from any scan queue) available to the bar code processing workstation.
- If, after performing Step 3, no scan format is found, then an error message is displayed and no bar code processing is performed.
