The CAR/LAR tab of the Branch Capture Scanning Client Settings dialog box contains configuration options that control the CAR/LAR functionality in the Scanning client.

Note:

This configuration is specific to configuring CAR/LAR to occur in the Scanning client during check scanning. To configure CAR/LAR to occur in the OnBase Client during the processing of the document data file, see Configuring CAR/LAR Functionality.

CAR/LAR requires additional licensing and software. Additional hardware is also required on the scanning workstation or network server to perform CAR/LAR scanning.

Each CAR/LAR solution is allotted a certain number of CAR/LAR processes based on the number of CAR/LAR licenses you have. For example, if you have twenty licenses, you can run a CAR/LAR process twenty times.

As you scan or process batches and use CAR/LAR to determine the Check Amount value, the number of CAR/LAR processes available decreases. Once this number reaches zero, you are unable to use CAR/LAR to process any further documents. To process additional documents using CAR/LAR, you must purchase additional licenses.

Note:

When making changes to the CAR/LAR configuration options listed below, you must re-launch the Branch Capture scanning client in order for the changes to take effect.

Option

Description

Enable

Select this option to enable CAR/LAR for the scanning client. Once selected, the remainder of the options on the CAR/LAR tab become available for interaction.

Favor MICR Amount when Available

Select this option to skip CAR/LAR processing if the Check Amount value is available in the MICR line of the check.

Confidence (1-100 )%

Enter a value in the field to determine the confidence level required for a Check Amount value identified by CAR/LAR to be accepted.

Only a Check Amount value with a confidence score higher than the confidence level will be accepted. Any Check Amount value with a confidence score lower than the confidence level will be ignored and must be entered manually during encoding.

Note:

Only check documents with Check Amount values that meet the confidence level will count against your CAR/LAR document allotment.

Parameter File Directory

Enter the file path to the parameter file directory. The default file path should be used unless you decide to alter or create a new document table.

For more information, see the A2iA CheckReader documentation.

Document Table File Path

Enter the file path to the document table. The default file path should be used unless you decide to alter or create a new document table.

For more information, see the A2iA CheckReader documentation.

A2iA

Select where the scanning client searches for the CAR/LAR licenses. The licenses are typically contained on a hardware device, such as an attached USB drive. The following are the available options:

  • Local Dongle: Select this option to search for the licenses on the local scanning workstation.

  • Network License Server: Select this option to search a network server for the licenses. If this option is selected, you must enter the name or IP address of the server in the Network License Server Name or IP Address field.

The Documents Used / Remaining and Days Used / Remaining values indicate how many of the allotted documents are used and how many remain.

Application Server

Enter the OnBase Application Server information. The fields in the Application Server section provide the information necessary for the scanning client to connect to the OnBase Application Server. A connection to your OnBase Application Server is required to confirm that your Branch Capture solution is licensed for CAR/LAR.

  • Application Server URL: Enter the URL to the OnBase Application Server. For example, http://<Server Name>/<Virtual Directory Name>/service.asmx.

    Note:

The URL must end in service.asmx.

  • ODBC Data Source: Enter the name of the data source that the scanning client must use to connect to the OnBase database.

Note:

When connecting to the OnBase Application Server, use the ADO.NET data source connection string name, not the ODBC data source name. For more information on connecting to the OnBase Application Server, see the section on ADO.NET connection strings in the Application Server module reference guide.

License Certificate High Water Notification (1-100) %

Enter a value in the field to specify a percentage of the allotted CAR/LAR processed documents consumed. When the specified percentage of documents consumed is reached, the user is notified.

For example, if this value is set to 80, a notification is displayed to the user when 80% of the allotted CAR/LAR processes have been used. This notification is displayed once per client session.

Another notification is automatically displayed when none of the allotted CAR/LAR processes remain.

Defaults

Click the Defaults button to reset all options on this dialog box to their default values.
