The Business Indexing Connector for use with SAP ArchiveLink, or BIC, is a seamless way to index documents within OnBase using information sent from the SAP system. Documents can be scanned into the OnBase Client, indexing only the SAP ArchiveLink Keyword Type. Upon commit, the batches are brought into the SAP system and linked to business objects. Information is added to business objects in SAP and once saved, an IDoc is generated and posted to OnBase. OnBase queues up the posted IDoc changes and processes the changes on a periodic basis. When found, the IDocs are used to apply index values to the linked documents in the OnBase system, effectively reflecting the information from SAP onto the OnBase document.
BIC requires configuration steps on both the SAP system side and on the OnBase side. The OnBase configuration consists of a configuration tool that maps IDoc fields to OnBase Keyword Types on a per IDoc basis.
