The CAD Document Viewer comes with the following considerations and limitations:

  • The CAD Document Viewer is only available in the Unity Client.

  • The CAD Document Viewer is only supported for use with 2D CAD files.

  • Documents stored in OnBase in the CAD Document File Format can only be viewed using the CAD Document Viewer.

  • Text searching is not supported in the CAD Document Viewer.

  • PDF cross-references are not supported in the CAD Document Viewer.

  • If you want to view cross-reference frames within the CAD Document Viewer, the values of those cross-reference frames must be set to 1.

  • When sending a document stored in the CAD Document File Format outside of OnBase, the document is converted into a PDF document. If you need to send the document as a .dwg file, use the OnBase Client.

  • All layers are available for selection when viewing a CAD document using the CAD Document Viewer. Disabled layers are not visible by default, but can be enabled and viewed.

  • Unplottable layers are not supported for use with the CAD Document Viewer.

  • When printing CAD documents from the CAD Document Viewer, markups are not included on the printed document.

  • The Paper Size configured in Page Setup within your CAD program is the size used when printing CAD documents from the CAD Document Viewer.

Note:

When printing CAD documents from the CAD Document Viewer, it is considered a best practice to use page spaces instead of model space when possible. When printing using model space from the CAD Document Viewer, the maximum page size is used instead of the configured Paper Size.
