To be able to open OnBase documents from within Costpoint, OnBase must be configured to recognize CMIS as an external system.

External system configuration also determines how documents are transmitted between OnBase and Costpoint. When OnBase documents are retrieved and opened from within Costpoint, the document file is streamed to the Costpoint operator using one of two methods:

  • Unity Pop: The document opens in a Unity Client window, allowing the user to access additional OnBase functionality through Unity Client tabs and buttons.

  • Raw data stream: The document opens in the default application used to view that document type (for example, a PDF opens in Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader).

Follow these steps to configure how documents are opened from within Costpoint:

  1. Open the OnBase Configuration module.
  2. Open the Utils | External Systems menu item. The External System Configuration dialog box is displayed.
  3. Select CMIS from the External System Names list.
  4. Click Values. The External System Parameter Configuration dialog box is displayed.
  5. In the Key field, enter Streamed File Format.
  6. In the Value field, enter either UPOP or RawByteStream, depending on how you want document files to be streamed to the Costpoint user.
  7. Click Add. The configuration parameter is added to the list. In the following example, the parameter is set to stream documents using Unity Pop.
  8. Click Save.
