Without a continuation string, the processor will automatically continue if the next page is the same Document Type and has all of the Keywords of the previous document. In some cases this may be appropriate. However, if the Keyword Values do not repeat on subsequent pages, a Continuation String should be configured.

  1. Expand the Continuation branch in the Visual DJDE Configuration window.
    1. The first branch, [CONTINUE UNIDENTIFIED SAME DOCUMENT], can be toggled between Yes and No by double-clicking. If the identification string of the Document Type only appears on the first page of each document, this branch should be set to Yes. The subsequent pages after the first page will be unidentified, but this flag will cause them to be appended to the current document until another instance of the identification string is found, indicating the start of another document.
  2. Expand either the Continuation String or Continuation Number branch. Double-click the options under the selected branch to toggle their values.
    1. To configure the Configuration String or Continuation Number, select the value section in the tree under Continuation String or Continuation Number, drag the mouse to highlight the location of the value in the document, then right click and select either Update Continuation Number or Update Continuation String from the menu.
      • If Document ID strings appear on every page, and the same Keyword Values appear at the same location on every page of a document, no Continuation is necessary. In this case, the DJDE process will start a new document when a different Keyword Value or different Document ID is found.

      • If Document ID strings do not appear on every page of the document, double-click to toggle [CONTINUE UNIDENTIFIED SAME DOCUMENT] to Yes. This causes unidentified pages to be appended to the currently identified document, inhibiting Keyword Values from being picked up from unidentified pages.

      • Continuation String or Continuation Number should be used when the Document ID string appears on all pages of the document, but the values in the Keyword Type locations vary from page to page. The values found at the location configured for Continuation String or Continuation Number are used to determine when to start a new document. Double-click on [STORE KEYS FROM FIRST PAGE ONLY] to control whether the Keyword Values for a document should be picked up from all pages in the document or only from the first page of the document.

      Note:

Continuation numbers are not supported when using the DJDE Input Filter.

  3. Continue to Initiating Processing to test the process.
