Virus protection software is critical to addressing the security risks of servers. However, exclusions should be made to prevent the virus protection software from causing conflicts with database operations.

For SQL Server implementations, the data files (for example, .mdf, .ndf, .db, etc.) and log files (for example, .ldf, etc.) should be excluded from anti-virus scanning. For more information, see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/309422.

Please note that file extensions may vary and that the OnBase database spaces typically have a file extension of .db.

For guidance on anti-virus exclusions in Oracle implementations, please consult Oracle support or the documentation for the virus protection software.
