Physical RAM allows the CPU to retrieve data from memory instead of accessing the I/O subsystem. Accessing data in memory is significantly faster than accessing it from disk. Purchasing considerations with regard to memory support are listed below.

  • The 64-bit version of the RDBMS will allow you to take advantage of additional RAM support.

  • Either the Standard or Enterprise editions of Oracle or SQL Server can be used; the edition needed depends on the requirements within your organization. The OnBase software does not depend on any functionality exclusive to Enterprise Edition of either platform.
