The memory for an Oracle installation can be configured manually or automatically using Automatic Memory Management (AMM) or Automatic Shared Memory Management (ASMM).
Hyland Software, Inc. has no preference as to whether an Oracle DBA manages memory manually or automatically.
It is recommended that you review Oracle documentation for information on assigning memory and configuring AMM or ASMM. It is recommended to use AMM when the total amount of memory allocated to Oracle is less than or equal to 4 GB, or ASMM when the total amount of memory allocated to Oracle is greater than or equal to 4 GB to manage memory. If memory is managed manually, it is recommended to use the Memory Advisor to determine the optimal size for each cache. The total amount of RAM dedicated to Oracle should be 80% or less of the total memory available on the server (90% or less in UNIX). If the server is not dedicated, it may be necessary to allocate even less memory to Oracle.
By default, an Oracle database is enabled to allow dedicated server processes.
An OnBase implementation should utilize dedicated server processes (as opposed to shared server).
