The OnBase Client module is able to log all SQL activity for the local Client session to a trace file when a switch is added to the shortcut of the OnBase Client or Configuration module's executable (obclnt32.exe or obcfg32.exe). The switch to add is -V SQL, T. The file, verbose.txt, is written to the local temporary report path that is configured in the onbase32.ini file (within the OnBase Client, click User | Workstation Options to view and/or edit the temporary report path). Each time the module is re-launched with this switch, the verbose.txt file is overwritten.

The verbose log can also be started from within the Client module at any time. Unless you are having an issue with logging onto OnBase, this method of starting the verbose logging is preferred because it helps minimize the size of the verbose.txt file.

  1. Select Help | About OnBase Client.
  2. Click Verbose.
  3. Enter chatty for the password.
  4. Click Proceed.
  5. Select the Active radio button in the Verbose Logging Options dialog box.
  6. Click Save.

The contents of the verbose log can be very useful, particularly when you are troubleshooting performance issues. Database activity can be isolated based on user function, and query execution times from the output can be analyzed.
