The final iteration of a document1 is the legal representation of the document medical record. It should be the only revision available to users who access the document after the chart is closed. For this reason, it is recommended for all Document Types belonging to a medical record Document Type Group to be Non Revisable, with the exceptions of Editable Transcription Document Types and Document Types containing PDFs.

Editable Transcription Document Types must be revisable in order to properly function, but User Groups should not be allowed to create ad hoc revisions of transcription documents.

Document Types containing PDFs must be revisable in order to properly function with deficiencies. Attempting to burn a deficiency onto a PDF that is configured as Non Revisable causes a Burn Service Error.

The ability to create revisions requires an EDM Services license. For more information, see the EDM Services documentation.

1 The final iteration reflects the state of the document when the chart has fully completed Reanalysis for the last time.
