Searching lets you find a specific text string in a log. You can search both grid-based and text-based logs.

  1. Select Search | Find or press Ctrl+F. The Find dialog box is displayed.
  2. Enter a search term or regular expression in the Find what field. For information about regular expressions, consult a programming reference guide.
  3. Select any necessary parameters.
    • Select Match whole word if you want to find only occurrences of the complete word that you typed.

    • Select Match case if you want to find only occurrences of the search term that match the case as you typed it.

  4. Select a search direction: Up to search toward the top of the log or Down to search toward the bottom of the log.
  5. Press Enter.
  6. To find subsequent instances of the search term, press F3 or select Search | Find Next.
  7. To find previous instances of the search term, press Shift+F3 or select Search | Find Previous.
