Configuring a default certificate within the Configuration module overrides the ability of the user to select a default certificate when signing a document. Default certificates can be configured for individual users or for an entire User Group.
When a user with a default certificate attempts to sign a document, either ad hoc or through Workflow, the document is signed with the default certificate. If the default certificate is not available for some reason, the user cannot sign the document unless a default certificate has also been configured for the user's User Group. In this case, the certificate assigned to the User Group is used. If neither certificate is available, the document cannot be signed by the user.
Default certificate configuration is currently only respected in the OnBase Client. If you are licensed for Workflow, it is also supported within Workflow using the Web Client interface, Unity Client interface, or Core-based user interface in the OnBase Client.
