To exclude a document from being purged or evaluated by a Document Retention process:

  1. From an open document, a Document Search Results list, or a Folder document list, right-click on the document or a selected range of documents and select Document Retention | Exclude from Document Retention.
  2. In the Document Retention Exclusion dialog box, enter a comment regarding why the document is being excluded.
    Note:

    Comments are required and are limited to 250 characters.

    Note:

    The comment entered is displayed as the Reason for Exclusion in the Documents Excluded from Document Retention window.

  3. Click OK.
