EDM Services allows you to create new documents in OnBase using a document template.

Document templates are pre-existing OLE documents that can be used as templates for new OLE documents. Document templates provide you with a base document that can be altered and stored as a new document. For example, your company may have a standard memo format stored as a template, which includes the company logo and address. You can use this document template to create a new document that includes memo text and recipient information, as well as the company logo and address from the template.

Document templates are created and configured by your system administrator.

Note:

PDF files are not supported with document templates.

To create a new document from a document template:

  1. Select File | New | Document Template. A dialog box displays available templates.
  2. Select an existing template. The program used to generate the template opens. For example, in the case of our memo example, a word processing program is likely to be the originating program.
  3. Make the desired changes to your template and save and close the document. In most cases you can close the document by selecting the close button in the upper-right corner of the document. OnBase prompts you for the Document Type into which you will import the new document.
  4. Select the desired Document Type, and add any Keyword Values you wish to associate with the document. In some cases, you may not be able to override the default Document Type.
