Document templates are OLE documents that are stored in the OnBase Document Type SYS Document Template. A document template provides a base document that can be altered and stored as a new document. OLE documents and documents created with ODMA-compliant programs can be used as document templates. Microsoft Excel documents can also be used as document templates.
PDF files are not supported with document templates.
Before configuring a document template, you must import a document you wish to use as a template into the SYS Document Templates Document Type. After importing and configuring a document template, you can modify it and save it as a revision.
You can work with document templates in the Web Client using the Office Business Application modules. Document templates can only be used in the Web Client with a supported version of the Office Business Application if the module is installed using the standard executable installer (MSI).
When creating document templates, use Word or Excel files with non-template file extensions (for example, .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx). Do not use Word (.dot or .dotx) or Excel (.xlt or .xltx) templates. Word or Excel template file extensions are not supported when working with the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack.
