You can save changes to revisable OLE documents. Depending on your system's revision settings, you may be prompted to save the modified document either as a revision of the original document or as a new document. If your system is configured to always save the modified document as a revision, the option to save it as a new document is omitted.
To save changes to an OLE document, click the system icon in the top left corner of the document and select Save Document. You are also prompted to save your changes when you close the document.
When you choose to save the document, it is either automatically saved as a revision of the original or the Document Revisions dialog box is displayed. The Document Revisions dialog box prompts you to save the document either as a revision or as a new document.
