CAUTION:

Ensure that you are familiar with the information in Before You Begin and Before You Begin before enabling Keyword Type encryption.

To enable Encrypted Alpha Keywords:

  1. In the Configuration module, select Keyword | Keyword Types.
  2. In the Keyword Type Configuration dialog box, select the Keyword Type that you want to encrypt.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. The Keyword Type Settings dialog box is displayed.
  5. In the Advanced section, select one of the following encryption options:
    • Encrypt Keyword - 128 AES - This option is the standard encryption method. Keywords encrypted in OnBase versions previous to OnBase 14 use this encryption method.

    • Encrypt Keyword - 256 AES - This option is the more secure encryption method. This can only be used with Keywords created in OnBase 14 or later.

    Note:

Keywords encrypted using the Encrypt Keyword - 256 AES option cannot be viewed in OnBase versions earlier than 14. Upgrades should be planned accordingly.

  6. You are prompted that Setting a Keyword Type to be encrypted will impose serious limitations on the use of the Keyword Type, especially with searching. Click Yes to continue.
  7. Click Save.
    Tip:

If your solution uses AutoFill Keyword Sets, see also AutoFill Keyword Sets.
