Express Scanning and the Virtual Print Driver can be used on a single workstation to create a Print to OnBase solution. With this solution, documents created by the Virtual Print Driver can be uploaded ad hoc or as a batch associated with a scan queue. Scan queues allow documents to undergo additional review or processing (for example, batch bar code processing via the Bar Code Recognition Server, Advanced Capture, Full-Page OCR, etc.).
In a Print to OnBase solution, documents printed by the Virtual Print Driver are automatically detected by the Express Scanning client. Depending on your Express Scanning configuration:
-
The Express Scanning client, if running, captures the document.
Depending on your configuration, the Express Scanning client may automatically index and upload the document, or you may be able to manually index the document before uploading it to OnBase.
-
The Express Scanning client, if running as a service, allows documents to be automatically uploaded to OnBase without any user interaction. This allows users to seamlessly create and upload documents without ever leaving the application that they were printed from.
Additional processing may require separate licensing; see the appropriate product documentation for more information.
