Launch the Hyland External Access Client Installer by executing setup.exe. This executable is usually located in the \install\External Access Client folder of your source installation files.

  1. The Welcome window of the installation wizard is displayed.

    Click Next to continue. The Destination Folder window is displayed.

  2. Enter the installation directory in the field provided, or click Change to browse to it.

    If Change is clicked, the Change destination folder window is displayed.

    Enter a folder name in the field provided or select it from the Look in drop-down list, then click OK.

    If the destination folder is not changed, the default location is used.

  3. Click Next. The Data Source window is displayed.

    Select a data source from the Select or enter a data source drop-down list, or enter a valid data source if it is not listed.

  4. Click Next. The External Access Client Settings window is displayed.
  5. Select a Web Site to install the External Access Client to from the drop-down list. The Web Site list is populated with the web servers configured in IIS and available to the target machine.

    Enter a name for the External Access Client in the Application Name field.

    Note:

    It is a best practice not to use parentheses in the Application Name.

  6. Under Communication Method, select how the External Access Client will communicate with the Application Server. Select Remoting if the External Access Client and Application Server are hosted on the same machine. If the External Access Client and Application Server are hosted on different machines, select SOAP.
  7. Select Use identity impersonation to run the IIS worker process to use identity impersonation to run the External Access Client under a specified account. If this option is deselected then the External Access Client runs under the Network Service account.

    The impersonation account is granted modify rights to the directories and subdirectories of the External Access Client (in a default installation, ExternalAccessClient is the External Access Client directory). The installer does not add modify rights for any other groups.

    Note:

    Ensure that the account the installed application is running under is granted modify rights to the application directories. If modify rights are not extended, you may experience permissions errors in modules attempting to modify files on the server.

  8. Select Enable TLS to run the External Access Client via an HTTPS binding connection. If this option is selected, you must ensure that your server is correctly configured for HTTPS binding connections. This option is selected by default.
  9. Click Next. The External Access Client Settings window is displayed.
  10. In the Web Server base URL field, enter the full URL to the External Access Client you are installing. The default value populated in this field is based on previous installation selections and current user input. Ensure that the URL root entered is accurate. The URL must reflect the machine and virtual directory that will contain the External Access Client. The URL is case sensitive and must be entered with the exact matching casing.
    Note:

    The installer only supports installation to a virtual directory. You cannot use the installer to install to a Web site root. If you selected Enable TLS earlier in the installation, the Web Server base URL must begin with https://. The name of the virtual directory must match the configured Application Name for the server.

  11. In the Application Server URL field, enter the full URL to the Service page of your OnBase Application Server. The file extension of the service page depends on the Communication Method you selected for the Application Server. If you selected Remoting, the service page is Service.rem. If you selected SOAP, the service page is Service.asmx.
    The default value populated in this field is based on previous installation selections and current user input. Ensure that the URL entered is accurate. The URL must reflect the machine and virtual directory that contains the OnBase Application Server. The URL is case sensitive and must be entered with the exact matching casing.
  12. If you selected Use identity impersonation to run the IIS worker process for the External Access Client settings, theIIS Settings window is displayed.
  13. In the User Name field, enter the domain and user name to use to run the IIS worker process for your server. This must be entered in the domain\username format.
  14. In the Password field, enter the password that corresponds to the user name provided.
  15. In the Confirm Password field, re-enter the password that corresponds to the user name provided. This is used to ensure that the password is typed correctly.
  16. Click Next. The Portal Number (optional) window is displayed.
  17. If you want to specify the portal number, enter the number in the Portal Number field.
    Note:

    Specifying a portal number is optional.

  18. If the environment is load-balanced, enable the Environment is load-balanced option.
  19. Click Next. The Ready to install Hyland External Access Client dialog box is displayed.
  20. Click Install to install the External Access Client.
    Click Back to return to the previous dialog box to change configuration options, or click Cancel to close the installer without installing the External Access Client.
  21. When the installation is complete, click Finish.
