FHIR can use AutoFill Keyword Sets to populate Keyword Values on imported documents based on Primary Keyword Values found in a message. However, only one AutoFill Keyword Set is triggered per document. The AutoFill Keyword Set used, or expanded, depends on the configuration of the Document Type as well as the Keyword Values included in the message.
The following conditions determine how AutoFill Keyword Set expansion occurs:
-
If there is an AutoFill Keyword Set assigned to the Document Type (a document-level AutoFill Keyword Set), that AutoFill Keyword Set is the primary one used for FHIR processing. After the document-level AutoFill Keyword Set is expanded on, other sets are expanded based on Primary Keyword Values found in the message.
-
Keyword Values included in the message are never overwritten by AutoFill Keyword Set expansion.
-
If there is not an AutoFill Keyword Set specifically assigned to the Document Type but the Document Type does include one or more Keyword Types which act as Primary Keywords for other AutoFill Keyword Sets, then each listed Primary Keyword Value configured for the Document Type is expanded on. If there are overlapping Keyword Values between those sets, that is, if one set contains another's Primary Keyword Type, original values from the message are not overwritten by expansion.
Note:In the case of overlapping AutoFill Keyword Sets, if a Primary Keyword Type in the message has no value, it is populated by the set whose Primary Keyword Value does exist. The set with the formerly missing primary is then expanded on based on the populated value from the other set.
-
For both document- and keyword-level AutoFill Keyword Sets, if multiple values exist for a Primary Keyword Type, no expansion occurs.
-
If the Primary Keyword Type relies on an Assigning Authority, a value for the Assigning Authority should be included in order to properly expand on the Primary Keyword Value. The specific result of a missing Assigning Authority depends on the type of AutoFill Keyword Set:
-
For Medical Records AutoFill Keyword Sets, a missing Assigning Authority for the Primary Keyword Value prevents the set from being expanded in all cases.
-
For standard AutoFill Keyword Sets, a missing Assigning Authority for the Primary Keyword Value only prevents expansion if there is more than one corresponding set for the Primary Keyword Value. For cases where there is only one set associated with the Primary Keyword Value, expansion still occurs despite the absence of an Assigning Authority.
