The Data Capture Server is a network server that connects to and interacts with the OnBase Application Server, allowing for the retrieval of information from the OnBase database and for efficient OCR processing. The Data Capture Server hosts a Windows Service that handles all communication with the Application Server and manages all OCR processing that takes place on the Data Capture Server itself.
OCR processing on the Data Capture Server allows for multiple batches to be processed simultaneously. Once the Data Capture Server is installed and the Windows Service is started, the service automatically polls the Awaiting Full-Page OCR queue at regular intervals and processes any batches awaiting OCR processing. Depending on your configuration, the service may also automatically poll the Awaiting Ad Hoc OCR queue at regular intervals and process any documents awaiting OCR processing there.
OCR processing on the Data Capture Server produces Verification Reports that can be used to diagnose errors and log processing times.
When performing OCR processing on the Data Capture Server, note the following:
-
In Verification Reports, the report generation time, process start time, and process finish time are based on the time and time zone of the OnBase database.
-
OCR processing on the Data Capture Server is not supported for PDF files that require a password, as these files require user interaction.
-
If OCR processing on the Data Capture Server is interrupted before completion, processing will automatically resume once the Data Capture Server is restarted.
