When properly configured, both batch and ad hoc OCR processing are automatically performed when the Data Capture Server Windows Service polls the Awaiting Full-Page OCR and Awaiting Ad Hoc OCR queues, respectively, for documents.

While batches can be sent to the Awaiting Full-Page OCR queue via standard scanning and sweeping processes (see the Document Imaging documentation for more information), individual documents can be sent to the Awaiting Ad Hoc OCR queue via a right-click option.

When sending documents to the Awaiting Ad Hoc OCR queue, note the following:

  • In order for the Awaiting Ad-Hoc OCR batch status queue to be available on your workstation, it must be registered for Production or Desktop Document Imaging and Full-Page OCR.

  • The Awaiting Ad-Hoc OCR queue is only displayed if at least one document resides within it.

To route a document to the Awaiting Ad Hoc OCR queue, do one of the following:

  • In the Unity Client, right-click on the document in a document list (for example, Document Retrieval, Workflow, or the Batch Scanning and Batch Processing layouts) and select Perform Full-Page OCR Processing.

  • In the OnBase Client, right-click on the document in a retrieval hit list and select Queue Document for OCR.
