Before accessing OCR functionality, you must ensure that the Full-Page OCR license is registered on the workstation. For general workstation registration procedures, see the sections below.

OCR processing on the Data Capture Server also requires a certain number of available Units to be allocated to the Full-Page OCR license on the workstation as part of the registration process. For more information on allocating these Units, see the Data Capture Server Deployment Guide.

When the Data Capture Server Windows Service is started from a workstation, it automatically registers that workstation for Full-Page OCR for one Unit if the workstation is not already registered and if a free Full-Page OCR license exists in the database. Depending on the needs of your solution, additional registration to allocate additional Units to the workstation may still be necessary, but this registration can be performed from the OnBase Client on any workstation in the solution.

Note:

The Data Capture Server Windows Service respects the licenses registered on the workstation for the service account running the service. This service account may be different than the current Windows user account. If you are performing OCR processing on the Data Capture Server, and you change license registration on the workstation under the current Windows user account, ensure that the registered licenses are consistent with the desired license registration under which the Data Capture Server Windows Service should be running.
