A custom thesaurus import file is a CSV (comma-separated values) file that contains terms and synonyms. Each line of the file contains one term and the corresponding synonyms, separated by commas. For example, if the thesaurus term is car and the synonyms are truck, automobile, and vehicle then the line in the import CSV file is:

car, truck, automobile, vehicle

The first words on each line are the thesaurus terms, and the words that follow each term on that line are the corresponding synonyms.

Tip:

To add terms to the custom thesaurus individually, see Adding Terms to the Custom Thesaurus.

To import a custom thesaurus to Full-Text Search:

  1. Launch the OnBase Configuration module.
  2. Select Full-Text Search from the Utils menu. The Full-Text Configuration Module dialog box is displayed.
  3. Click the Thesaurus tab. The thesaurus options are displayed.
  4. Click Import at the bottom of the dialog box.

The Open dialog box is displayed.

  5. Locate and select the CSV file to import, or type the full path to the file in the File name field.
    Note:

The file must be a plain-text *.csv file in order to be imported correctly.

  6. Click Open. The thesaurus terms and synonyms are imported from the file selected.
If there are terms imported that already exist in the custom thesaurus, they are not added again. If there are terms that already exist in the custom thesaurus but are not in the import file, they are not removed from the custom thesaurus on import.
  7. Click Save at the bottom of the Thesaurus tab to save your changes.

To undo any changes made since the last save, click Clear Changes.

  8. Restart the Hyland Full Text Server service for saved changes to take effect.
    Tip:

To remove or edit terms in the custom thesaurus, see Removing Terms and Synonyms in the Custom Thesaurus.
