The Preprocessor Options allow you to modify the image file before it undergoes OCR processing.
Preprocessor Option |
Description |
---|---|
No color conversion |
Does not convert original colors. OCRing color images dramatically reduces the speed of the OCR engine. This option does not modify the original image. |
Convert color to grayscale |
Converts color images to grayscale images (composed of discrete shades of gray). This option does not modify the original image. The conversion is used only for the OCR process. |
Convert all to bitonal |
Converts images to bitonal images (images composed of a single background color and a single foreground color). This option does not modify the original image. The conversion is used only for the OCR process. |
Automatic inversion |
Inverts the entire image if the OCR engine perceives it to be inverted (having a black background and white foreground). Black pixels are converted to white. White pixels are converted to black. |
Never invert |
The image is never inverted. |
Always invert |
The image is always inverted. |
Automatically deskew |
Deskews the image if the OCR engine perceives it to be skewed (placed at an angle). |
Automatic rotation |
Text orientation is automatically detected on the page and rotated to the correct, upright rotation. Note:
If your solution is licensed for Advanced Capture, this setting is ignored when performing Point and Shoot Indexing. When performing Point and Shooting Indexing, the orientation of the page is always left as-is. |
Never rotate |
Text orientation remains as in the original document. Note:
If your solution is licensed for Advanced Capture, this setting is ignored when performing Point and Shoot Indexing. When performing Point and Shooting Indexing, the orientation of the page is always left as-is. |
Always rotate left 90 degrees |
Rotates the text orientation 90 degrees to the left. Note:
If your solution is licensed for Advanced Capture, this setting is ignored when performing Point and Shoot Indexing. When performing Point and Shooting Indexing, the orientation of the page is always left as-is. |
Always rotate right 90 degrees |
Rotates the text orientation 90 degrees to the right. Note:
If your solution is licensed for Advanced Capture, this setting is ignored when performing Point and Shoot Indexing. When performing Point and Shooting Indexing, the orientation of the page is always left as-is. |
Always rotate 180 degrees |
Rotates the text orientation 180 degrees. Note:
If your solution is licensed for Advanced Capture, this setting is ignored when performing Point and Shoot Indexing. When performing Point and Shooting Indexing, the orientation of the page is always left as-is. |
Automatically despeckle |
Automatically removes dots and speckles that commonly show up in faxed documents. |
Automatically enhance resolution |
Automatically adds pixels to enhance resolution if the OCR engine perceives it to be necessary. |
Never enhance resolution |
Pixels are never added to enhance resolution. |
Always enhance resolution |
Pixels are always added to enhance resolution. |
Report per-page timing Statistics |
Select this option to include detailed per-page OCR engine statistics in the Verification report. |
