The HL7 Sender can insert non-Keyword medical record data into outbound HL7 messages using existing links between the OnBase document and patient care database tables in OnBase. Examples of non-Keyword medical record data include admitting/attending physician IDs, chart status, and chart title.
If a document is associated with a chart, these database links (DBLINKs) allow HL7 to look up the chart value for the document in the associated database table and column. The correct value is then inserted into the mapped field when the HL7 message is sent.
Database linking can be used to do the following:
-
Send non-Keyword data, such as the attending physician on a document's chart.
-
Specify the physician who worked on a deficiency.
-
CC physicians on transcriptions edited or signed in the Medical Records Unity Client.
Database linking requires advanced knowledge of the OnBase database. Not all database tables and columns are supported. To configure this feature and find out whether HL7 supports the needed columns, contact your solution provider.
