Administrators can configure HL7 Import Processor Groups, which provides the ability to place HL7 Import Processors into groups. This allows specific HL7 Listeners to be assigned, which then allows only HL7 Import Processors from specific groups to run. Splitting processors into groups aides in improved performance, administrative clarity, data integrity, and security of the HL7 Listeners.

In addition, administrators can specify one or more groups that the listener can run. When specifying groups, the administrator does not need to use the command line to specify the -HL7PORT. However, if any of the ports are already in use, the service shuts down immediately and logs appropriate errors to the following locations:

  • Hyland.Logging

  • verbose.txt

  • Windows event log.

You can review the server and make changes as appropriate to ensure that all OnBase HL7 Listeners are listening as expected.

Note:

Environments that have been upgraded come with a pre-configured group called Default. This group is read-only. This group can be used to migrate HL7 Import Processors from the default group into one or more user-defined groups. The Default group requires that the HL7PORT is utilized to specify a non-standard port.

To configure import processor groups:

  1. Select Medical | HL7 | Import Processor Groups. The HL7 Import Processor Groups dialog box is displayed.
    Note:

Import Processor group configurations can be migrated from one OnBase environment to another using Import/Export.

  2. Type a name in the field at the bottom of the dialog box and click Create. The <Group Name> Group Settings dialog box is displayed.
  3. Type the name of a switch in the Switch Name field. This name is limited to 20 characters, must by unique, and only allows characters [A-Z], [0-9]. The values entered in this field are then added to the -HL7LISTENERGROUPS command line.
  4. Type one or more ports in the Listening Ports field. These are the ports the HL7 Listener listens to when mapped to this process group.
  5. Since TLS is the recommended approach and a security best practice, the Require Connection Security Policy check box is selected by default when creating new destinations. However, you must opt out of the requirement if using plain text connections.
Note: Do not enable this option for existing destinations.
  6. The Availability options allow administrators to disable the group, which prevents any HL7 Listener from being able to run this group.
  7. Click Save.
  8. With your group highlighted, click User Accounts. The <Group Name> Account Mapping dialog box is displayed.
    Note:

Mapping user accounts allows you to specifically map OnBase users to processes.

  9. From the Available pane, select user(s) to move into the Selected pane.
  10. When you have selected the users you want, click Add. The users you selected are displayed in the Selected pane.
  11. Click Close.
  12. With your group highlighted, click Migrate Processors to display any processors that are currently not in the selected group.
  13. Select any available processors you want to migrate to your new group. You can move multiple processors by clicking Ctrl + <the processors you want to move>.
  14. Click Move. A confirmation message is displayed.
  15. Click Yes. The processor(s) you selected have been migrated to the group you created.
  16. Click Close.
