FSDesign is a special version of the Statement Composition design tool that exists specifically for creation of bar code face sheet layouts – this version supports automatic creation of an internal ODF file based on the Document and Keyword Types in OnBase.

Use FSDesign to graphically lay out the face sheet, apply keyword values as bar codes, and add any static text or images, as needed.

  1. Associate OnBase Document and Keyword Types with the bar code face sheet.
    1. Open FSDesign.exe and select Objects | Load keyword definitions. If you have configured API connection settings previously, continue to step 2, otherwise, continue to step 1 1.
    2. The API connection settings dialog box displays. In the Username: and Password: fields, type your OnBase user name and password.
    3. Select the source from which FSDesign.exe will load OnBase Document and Keyword Type definitions.
      • Thick API

      • Core API

      • ODBC

    4. If you selected ODBC, select your ODBC source from the Datasource drop-down list.
    5. Click OK.
  2. Upon successful loading of Document and Keyword Types, the Operation complete message is displayed.
  3. Once the Document and Keyword Type definitions have been loaded into the application, you can configure the layout of the face sheet using the standard Statement Composition features (see the Statement Composition Help for details).
    Note:

Document and Keyword Types are treated as static objects; which means that external charts and graphs are not available. Control points are also not available, but these items are not needed for face sheet configuration.

    Note:

If you enable the Use wide dimensions for Code 39 bar codes option (under Configuration | Document options), then you also must provide a Render device for display value to ensure bar codes are rendered as expected.

    Tip:

If multiple users will be printing face sheets at the same time, you may want to insert the @username or @realname Keyword Values on the face sheet layout. The @username Keyword Value displays the current user's user name. The @realname Keyword Value displays the current user's real name, which must be configured in User Settings.

  4. If you are using Document Type bar codes, you can map static values to Document Type names to specify a different bar code output value.
    1. Select Object | Define Document Type Map.
    2. Double-click the Document Type name you want to map to a different value.
    3. Type the value you want displayed for the bar code.
    4. Click OK.
  5. When you are finished with the layout, save the layout file as [filename].smt to a UNC location.
