The Scripted Merge Processor merges MPIs, MRNs, and charts with the assistance of a script written in VBScript. This message action offers finer control over merging when OnBase is configured for MRNs with assigning authorities, as described under Overlapping Identifiers and Assigning Authorities.
For example, suppose each MPI in OnBase should have only one MRN per assigning authority, as shown in the following example.
Following a merge of MPI-B into MPI-A, MPI-A would have multiple MRNs with the same assigning authority.
Using the Scripted Merge Processor, it is possible to check whether a merge will result in two MRNs with the same assigning authority. In this case, the Scripted Merge Processor can ensure MRNs that have the same assigning authority are merged when the MPIs are merged.
For configuration information, see the following topics:
When the OnBase Client is started with the -HL7LISTENER switch enabled, processors are automatically created for each Scripted Merge Processor message action. These processors propagate newly merged chart data to patient records, non-chart-based AutoFill Keyword Sets, and documents. For more information and merge-related requirements, see HL7 Merge Processing.
