In some systems, users should have access only to charts within specific units. By enabling unit-based security in Medical Client Settings, you can restrict chart access based on a unit membership.
This type of unit-based security affects only the Medical Records Unity Client and OnBase Client.

In Chart Search, unit membership affects only users who have the Restricted Facility Search privilege.

If coders or analysts are members of one or more units, then they can assign themselves only charts within those units.

Unit security does not affect users who are not assigned to any units.

Physician users cannot be assigned to units.
Before assigning unit membership, ensure the Enable Unit Based Security is selected in Medical Client Settings under Medical | User Interface Settings | Client Settings.
To assign users to units:

Select Medical | Units. The Medical Unit Configuration dialog box is displayed.

Click Members. This button is available only if unit-based security is enabled in Medical System Settings. The Member Assignment dialog box is displayed.
