An assigning authority Keyword Type is necessary only if your system allows overlapping identifiers for MRNs, MPIs, or Chart IDs. This Keyword Type is used for the following:

Updating and merging AutoFill Keyword Sets that use the MRN, Master Patient Index, or Chart ID Keyword Type

Assigning documents to patient records

If you want to use translated assigning authority friendly names as the values of the assigning authority instead of the direct HL7 code, configure the Maximum Length to be as long as required for your friendly names.
