The general configuration options for the EDI process format are contained in the Process Settings dialog box. These options allow you to specify the file or files to be processed, as well as certain pre- and post-processing options that are applied to the data. This dialog box also contains a command line that can be run to preprocess the data or call a batch file.

An FTP client can request a file from the server, or can place a file on the server. FTP includes functions to log onto the network, list directories, and copy files. FTP is not practical for retrieving large reports, because the whole file will be retrieved temporarily to the Client workstation.
